So, it is no secret Avery is very attached to her paci! And, honestly I really didn't mind that she was four years old and still had one...she only used it at night time while she was sleeping and it really didn't bother me. We had a few very unsuccessful attempts to give it up. But, finally in January we all decided it was time. Avery had horrible chapped lips and her mouth was very red and chapped from her paci so we knew we had to do it. Plus Avery really wanted to this time, in the past it was me trying to get her to do it, but this time she told me she really wanted to. She was really torn between wanting to give her paci up and be a big girl and really being emotionally attached to that thing. So, we made a huge leap and decided we would go to Build a Bear and put her paci in her bear! She was sooooo excited about this, but also not at the same time! =) She was such a big girl and we are soooo soooo proud of her. I know it seems like it was just a paci and not that big of a deal, but it was a huge deal and we are so proud! She did pretty good afterwards. The first few nights she told me she was going to cut open her puppy and take her paci out...=) But, she kept on going and now says she would never ever want a paci again, she actually gets really angry if you ask her if she wants one! We are sooo proud of our big girl and the huge step she took!
