We had our first swim of the summer over Memorial Day weekend! Brody had his first swim ever and loved it! He loves hanging out by the pool naked and going skinny dipping!! He had so much fun splashing and playing in the water! I think he is going to be a water baby just like Avery!
My sweet girl Avery! I LOVE her, she is so sweet right now!!! She has had a blast swimming. Every day she asks me if we can have a swim day...and we pretty much have! We had a rough start this summer. Last year we couldn't pull her out of the pool. She put her life jacket on and took off for hours...jumping off the side, swimming in the deep end, she was a fish. So, this year I decided it would be the perfect time for swimming lessons...not so much! She had one day of lessons at Mimi's pool and it was the worst experience we have had. The lady was really nice and very impressed with Avery and how brave she was and all that she could already do. She learned to walk around the edge of the pool and climb out on the side. She was doing soooo good and having a blast. Then it was time for her to go under water. I'm not sure exactly what happened b/c I wasn't in the pool with her. But, I think the teacher told her to go under, not sure if the teacher kind of put her under or what. But, the next thing I know Avery is screaming and crying and choking! It was horrible, I wanted to pull Avery out of the pool and tell that lady exactly what I thought of her. But, I didn't...I should have! The lady made her stay in the pool for the rest of the lesson with Avery crying and begging and gagging and chocking to get out! She never let her get out! I have never felt so helpless and bad for Avery! =( Needless to say I had to call the teacher that evening and let her know she had scared my child for life and we would not need her to return! After that it took us two days of begging and pleading just to get Avery to get in on the stairs. Finally, she decided to put on her life jacket and after a day she finally said I could let go of her and see if she floated! Thank goodness now she is back to her old self. Kind of...she is still a little timid about jumping off and gets a little nervous! I'm just glad she finally got back in and trusted us enough to try again. Maybe next summer we can convince her to take swimming lessons again...I sure hope so!
